Description

Delicious toffee-coated walnut halves that are perfect for snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup walnut halves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and set aside.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, water, and salt. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble.
  3. Allow the mixture to boil gently until it turns a deep golden amber color, about 8 to 10 minutes. If using a candy thermometer, cook until it reaches 300°F.
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Immediately add the walnut halves and stir until evenly coated in the toffee mixture.
  6. Spread the coated walnuts onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Let cool completely at room temperature until hardened. Break apart if needed and serve.

Notes

  • For a crunchier texture, ensure the walnuts are fresh and not stale.
  • Store the cooled toffee walnuts in an airtight container to maintain their crunch.
