Description
Delicious toffee-coated walnut halves that are perfect for snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup walnut halves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and set aside.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, water, and salt. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble.
- Allow the mixture to boil gently until it turns a deep golden amber color, about 8 to 10 minutes. If using a candy thermometer, cook until it reaches 300°F.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract.
- Immediately add the walnut halves and stir until evenly coated in the toffee mixture.
- Spread the coated walnuts onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Let cool completely at room temperature until hardened. Break apart if needed and serve.
Notes
- For a crunchier texture, ensure the walnuts are fresh and not stale.
- Store the cooled toffee walnuts in an airtight container to maintain their crunch.
