- 2 lbs russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish with butter.
- Layer the sliced potatoes in the dish, sprinkling salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cheddar cheese between each layer.
- In a bowl, mix heavy cream with additional salt and pepper; pour over the layered potatoes until just covered.
- Top with more shredded cheese.
- Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
